You may be wondering, how does a man who died
on a cross 2000 years ago have anything to do with my personal
peace? Actually, the death of Jesus Christ has everything to do
with your personal peace and salvation. Salvation? Yes,
salvation.
Let me explain. The Bible says, "for all have sinned and fall
short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23. This simply means that
every human being alive is living their life in a manner that is
less than God's plan for them. You see, sin is missing the mark
or not meeting the standard of holiness that God established.
You may say, "Well, okay, so I'm a sinner, big deal". Actually,
it is a HUGE deal. The Bible also says, "for the wages of sin is
death..."Romans 6:23. Now do you see why salvation is so
important? If we are all sinners, and the result of sinning is
death according to the law of God, then you and I are in deep
trouble.
If I stopped here, this would be a hopeless message. However,
the Bible says, "BUT God demonstrates His own love toward us, in
that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans
5:8. Finally, some good news. God's love for me compelled Him to
not leave me hopeless in sin with the price of eternal death to
pay. Instead, God sent Jesus Christ His son to die in my place.
That's right Jesus died for you! He has paid the required price
for our sin. You see the rest of Romans 6:23 says, "for the
wages of sin is death, BUT the GIFT of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord."
So how do we respond to this amazing love that God has
demonstrated? The Bible says, "that if you confess with your
mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has
raise Him from the dead, you shall be saved." Romans 10:9. Jesus
is the son of God. He proved this by raising from the dead three
days after dying on the cross. Now that He has beaten death He
offers you eternal life through Him.
